When it comes to music production staying on top of the best new plugins and constantly upgrading can be a strenuous and expensive task. Not every plugin is built the same and with the same standard of quality in mind. In today’s day and age it has become even harder to find what is actually valuable in the plugin world because of the amount of paid promotion, blingy marketing and sketchy affiliate marketing tactics.

We had a conversation with some producers on our roster and tried to see what was the common plugin each of them used and really kept going back to over the years. These are the two plugins which really stood out and each producer should have in their vault in our opinion.

Halftime

Halftime is easily one of the most used and desired effects out there. How many times have you heard of people trying to time-stretch a sample without changing the pitch, or ruining the actual sample quality itself? How many YouTube tutorial do you see for people make, trying to manually slow down a sound and fail miserably because of issues with tempo, pitch and sync? Well this plugin is the simple awnser for you.

Halftime, adds a layer of atmosphere and mood that just cant be matched anywhere. It creates downtempo versions of the original sound giving you an instant half-speed effect without the drawbacks of having to timestretch. Halftime works on loops, virtual instruments or even live audio input, inspiring you in seconds. Lastly, the plugin is only $12 online and literally 90% of music producers out there, use this, so make your buying decisions accordingly.

Are you tired of using stock reverb plugins? Do your sounds miss that fullness because of the same reverb settings on all your tracks?

Perfect Pitch XL by Denise was first recommended to us by popular YouTuber Imamusicmogul. He’s a super knowledgable dude, and I always listen to his recommendations with an open mind, even if he does have multiple paid partnerships because he only pushes products he really uses and which have actual benefits. You can see him use it in this tutorial here.

In short Perfect Pitch XL is the best reverb out there today. It ads a supernatural layer to your sound and does so while retaining the actual sound quality. Its literally the quickest thing you can use to add a crisp clean layer reverb layer over your sounds, and it does so in a natural way using plate vibrations and different features like detune, drive and even an internal ducker.

The XL version is about double the price of the normal plugin coming in at approximately 79 Euros, but we would not go for anything lower than the XL personally. Its a one step solution to fixing bad reverb on tracks.
